So far, nothing. It's my kids' first year swimming Divisionals and I'm disappointed there's nothing special in the works. In previous years, there have been pep rallies and poster-making sessions - if that's still happening, it's awfully late notice! |
Wow! How many do you have? We have about 50. I cannot imagine the coaches delivery 50 yard signs! We yard sign only the 8&U. |
Very elaborate posters for each swimmer |
Our team does that too. Some of the posters are amazing. My child is now an assistant coach and I helped with some of them. It was a lot of work! |
My team (A division) is having a pre-meet meeting where all the swimmers meet each other for the first time. Love this tradition |
This made me LOL. |
This is the perfect level of snarkiness |
I just counted our lineup, just under 40. But we live almost entirely in one neighborhood and have a big coaching staff. Also, considering the number of siblings, that’s way less houses. I’d guess they split up in about 3 cars and make an efficient route. Ours are hung on front doors and such and kids are told to bring them to be hung in the team tent in the morning. Almost every team at divisionals has posters in their team area. |
Our team gives every kid that makes divisional a special watch |
Weird comment because Potomac is in B this year not A |
I encourage you to take on a volunteer role that ensures something “special” gets “in the works”. I don’t mean to be snarky, but working parent team reps are using every spare second of time to ensure the league-required steps happen for divisionals. They may have zero capacity left to guide coaches in making sure these special activities happen. If you want to see them happen, offer to make them happen. |
Ahahahaha |
Long time tradition of spray painting, chalking and forking opposing pools for divisional weekend. |
Forking? |
Guess what? I know our team reps are working hard. I also know our coaching staff has a lot of experienced junior and assistant coaches, who could capably pull something together. Our head coach is not new. We didn't get the Divisionals confirmation until Wednesday of this week. As for my volunteering, I've worked eight meets this season, all either clerk of course or stroke and turn. I'll be working Divisionals tomorrow. On several occasions, I've agreed to last minute requests from our reps to fill those roles, because they know I'm good at them. I'm happy to help. I'm also allowed to feel disappointed about this one aspect of our team. |
