Hard Rock Stadium, fans, US hosting the world cup in two years

Anonymous
Soccer fans are a particular brand of crazy. I was offered free tickets to some games at the World Cup in Brazil and it was an easy pass. I find crowds overwhelming and claustrophobic even at the tamest baseball games.

Shakira ruins the final.

Good lord is right. Very lucky no one was injured in this craziness. It takes a lot to break and entire escalator.

Question still remains (I'm OP, not sock puppeting) - what if anything does this say about hosting the World Cup? Who is responsible for the lack of adequate security and how will it be corrected in the future?

Even if you accept that soccer fans (or South American soccer fans, or Columbian soccer fans) are a whole 'nother level of crazy, it's till incumbent on the organizers to neutralize the crazy with stronger precautions.

And now good grief the pitch is wet from running the sprinklers after shakira and players are slipping all over the place. Just bad.

How is the US going to be prepared to host the Word Cup. The game was supposed to start almost 90 minutes ago. I am amazed the players are willing to play. So many people rushing the stadium did NOT go through any type of security screening!

The games have been going off fine the last few weeks.

You must be confused EuroCup held in Germany has been going on fine. Copa America is embarrassing. How often do you see players going into the stands to defend their families at EuroCup?

Did you see the CopaAmerica -Uruguay vs Colombia game? Right after the game Darwin Núñez and about a dozen Uruguay teammates went into the stands as fans brawled at Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina following Uruguay's 1-0 loss to Colombia in a semifinal. And this is after MORE security and police were on hand for the Copa America event than a typical home game for the NFL’s Carolina Panthers or concerts.

From AP News:

Uruguay players, including Darwin Núñez, noticed an altercation behind the team’s bench and about a dozen or so players then climbed into the stands as the melee continued.

Some players were seen throwing punches before Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers and stadium security restored order after about 10 minutes.

“Obviously when one has your woman, your little child, your father, elderly people you want to go and see if they’re OK,” Suárez said. “Here these things, it’s an image that no one wants to have created but obviously if someone is attacking your family you want to go and defend them. But that doesn’t justify the image that it created. We had to protect our families that were there...Uruguay’s José María Giménez called the situation a “disaster.”

“Our family is in danger,” Giménez told Fox. “We had to get on top of the stands ASAP to rescue our loved ones with babies. ... It’s a disaster because all of the matches are the same. Our families are in danger because of some who drink one or two shots of alcohol that don’t know to drink and behave like children.”

Simple, if the Colombian fans could be escorted by (I don't know, the 3rd Infantry Division or something) into the stadium, surrounded during the game, and escorted back out, that would take care of them attacking families, mass trespassing, ventilation shaft spelunking and property damage. No other South American, Central American or North American fan base exhibited these problems.

I don't know that it was all Colombians. There were a lot of other nationalities wearing Colombia jerseys. I saw a Mexican dude with a Club America jersey (looks like Colombia) running in unticketed. A lot of Salvadorans interviewed who had Arg jerseys on. Overall it was a sh&tshow because a bunch of unruly, uneducated, bottom of the socioeconomic barrel fan base showed up trashing the place and scaling walls. Miami-Dade should've been prepared. They know who lives there and the signs had been there all weekend.

I grew up in a hispanic family. Always voted Dem but these recent Darien gap wave of immigrants are pure chaos and violence. We must stop the influx because this weekend's events is exactly what they bring.

Yes it was DeSantis fault. When Trump wins he plans to roundup all these people and put them in camps. South Florida will be much better soon.

This is what happens when soccer is everything and you have a huge fan-base in the city where the final is. everyone without a ticket should have stayed home.
My country is 45 times smaller than Colombia. We win in different sport all the time. Nobody cares anymore or even keeps up.
Can you imagine only having soccer (well, cycling maybe) to look forward to?
My Colombian friends are really quiet today. Let me see if they bring up this lousy behavior. Last time they said they were nicer than the Uruguayans and better educated than the Venezuelans.
I'm actually shocked. I don't want to hear about how nice Colombians are, and 'Como Te quiero, Colombia'.

French authorities and Uefa blamed late arrivals and fraudulent tickets for chaotic scenes outside the Stade de France before Saturday's Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. But Liverpool fans who spoke to the BBC described organisational failures, overcrowding and heavy-handed policing.

Oh no! Look the same thing happened in Europe. Surely they will never be allowed to host a soccer game again!

In Miami they were scaling walls, climbing into vents, attacking other patrons, and beating police. It was next level.
I was scared that it was going to turn into Queretero-Atlas.
If you known nothing of the Queretero-Atl riots and death toll, I suggest you watch those videos. This is not American History X level killings.
