Stop using your phone to video fireworks, concerts, events, etc

No she's not. Everyone is looking in that general direction. She would be looking more sharply over her shoulder if she was looking at the camera.

I agree 100% about fireworks and had that thought last week when I saw so many people filming them.

I did record part of a concert once, had great seats, and I do go back and watch it from time to time.

Fireworks are up on the sky (where everyone's phone is pointed) and the old lady is looking across at a phone

Your eyes may be broken. Her gaze is looking further than the phone, quite obviously.

Completely agree. Enjoy the moment. Put the phone down.

I like to have a few clips of a special concert. When I just want to remember the special time I had with my daughter, I go back and take a look. We don't film the whole thing. I snippet here and there. It's much more special than watching it on YouTube. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are about the most annoying to happen to music in this millennium.

I wish my mom would be like the old lady. Mine takes pictures of absolutely everything: restaurant menus, doorways, every animal she sees. When she slows us down and we complain she gets mad at us.

My father nearly knocked me over once and elbowed me in the face to whip out his phone to take pics of my niece/his granddaughter being presented with a birthday cake (one of like, four). I was like "Dad, calm down - her mom can send you her video if watching it on Facebook repeatedly isn't enough for you."

I feel this way about 90% of the stuff I see people record or take pictures of.

+1 for all the crap people film at Disney. Take a castle shot, some character photos and be done. You are not going to rewatch the afternoon parade in its entirety when you get home!

+1 You are not going to watch the fifth grade band concert uploaded to your laptop!

No, but they’re probably required to send it to Grandma.

PP. You're right. How about this.

+1 You're not going to look back through your 90 photos of zoo animals.

This past year at our middle school’s band concerts, there was a dad who would actually, in the theater, walk up the steps to the stage just to video his kid. It was shocking to me. Bad enough that half the parents had to film every song, but walking up on stage?? FFS. No one wants to listen to that again!

I like it because Google will remind me about me about things I did a year ago , etc and give me a picture video slideshow

We had a dad literally video every school event and performance from beginning to end for 12 years and two kids. He would work the entire auditorium and had sticks for his phone to get aerial shots. Wonder how often he watches them now?

I’ve already viewed my recordings of the fireworks 30x since July 4th. If I’m recording something, of course that means I’m going to view it later!!

I agree with being in the moment, but of course we look at the photos & videos later. I share photos with the grandparents, and I make a printed photobook every 6 months. My photos are organized on my computer.

My kids want to watch their sports & band videos, plus the grandparents want to see them. Though, I find a way to hold the phone or camera in such a way that I’m recording but watching in real life, not through the screen.
