What do you cook for a date, the first time you cook for them?

dessert is usually brownies w/ ice cream & homemade hot fudge sauce

Chicken piccata is easy and tasty, serve it with a light salad and maybe some penne. And perhaps a cheesecake or strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Risotto, so we can chat while one of us stirs.

I find the first time someone's at my house to be a little awkward unless there's a distracting activity, such as stirring risotto or snapping asparagus

Maybe it's just me but making pasta = fun, eating said pasta = booooooooo

First, you have to be a fairly good cook to begin with to get it right - and even with that - LOTS of practice. Everyone says it's so easy, and I get it - with gadgets and things it's easy to make something that looks like great pasta and yes, it's can be great. But tbh, it's so overhyped to me. There are a few pastas that taste good homemade like maybe a cavatappi but for me, it's always too something - too doughy, too weirdly textured, too much time, too gummy - something. Give me some store bought "fresh pasta" or good ole Barilla anyday.

But again - may be my skills. All that to say, if you don't already know how to do this well - I'd hold off on trying to impress a date. It's a good date night activity though to do together.

Light pasta, or risotto like a PP suggested, green salad, wine. You don’t want something heavy if you’re going to have sex.

Generally, choose things that friends/family request you make - if they like it enough to ask for it, your date probably will too.

Yes! Definitely no first-time recipes for this. You need something you're comfortable with that you know will turn out well.
