OMG, I can’t stand parents who use public meetings as their own private conference about their snowflakes. This is how the AAP parents act at BTSN. Ridiculously self-absorbed. |
Yes!! Same experience here. What is it with certain parents who feel the need to bring everything to a halt while they blab on about their own kid? DP |
You people are nuts. She could clone herself into every version of a superintendent you say you want and you would still complain. She's not accessible! She's too accessible! She's out of the office too much! She's lazy and never leaves Gatehouse! |
At the meeting I went they tended to be immigrant people who thought the meeting was for their special issue. One of them was a guy who on the public street shouted something racist after school hours due to a disagreement between two parents and apparently FCPS was supposed to do something about it. It's possible they could have turned their issues into a greater issue to take action on but they weren't able to articulate in a way that went beyond their incident. They basically kept requesting that someone do something for their child or even them as if they were part of the school system. One person needed a translator, talked for 20 minutes basically saying nothing and having everything they said interpreted and then when someone asked a question about what they said, the person answered in perfect English. I was so mad I wasted my time at this meeting where this person was on the complete opposite end of the county, had obviously already made their case to the same people before, and had nothing to offer the general school population. FCPS admin also knew this person had spoken at previous meetings so why they were allowed to use an interpreter to tell their singular story again was beyond me. They have got to stop allowing people to just ruin these meetings for issues which should be private meetings with a family. Or they need to advertise that these meetings are not for general policy questions and issues that affect many but for any personal issue you have with anything that ever happened to you in FCPS. |
Dear Gatehouse Employee: Not everyone has the same take but the consensus is that she’s all over the place visiting different schools and attending various events but it’s not really clear why or to what purpose. And then writing it all up rather verbosely. It’s like someone who submits a very detailed expense report but never explains the purpose of their trip. XOXO, FCPS Parents |
I'm not a Gatehouse employee. I am a parent with my head screwed on straight. You should try it sometime. |
+1, half the people on this forum are living in Lala land. |
| Can someone articulate something positive Superintendent Reid has done for FCPS? |
Also a parent, not a Gatehouse employee, and if she weren't visiting schools people would be complaining that she sits in Gatehouse not visiting schools. And to the person who wants something positive, I give you MS sports off the top of my head (at which point you will complain that it's not academic). |
So nothing to improve academics at FCPS in the 23 months she has been with FCPS. |
Correct. |
No one would be complaining if she were sitting in Gatehouse actually coming up with or implementing ways to improve FCPS. Instead we get an over-the-top weekly travelogue that reads like it was written by Rick Steves on meth. |

Sorry- more MONEY for the art. |
Oh come on. Yes you would |
