+1. They will likely fall and require hopsitalization and then demand rehab and nursing home placement.

Or they will just fall repeatedly, as my parents have done, and continue to refuse walkers or canes, and continue to live at home and risk going up and down stairs, somehow clinging on to this even after stints in rehab that I thought they’d never recover from.

My parents won’t even use the wheelchair service in the airport. They hobble along slowly, unsteadily, hunched over. It’s super unnerving to watch. It’s their lives and their choice.

Op, I feel your pain. Maybe suggest installing solid hand rails in the bathrooms and for the entrances into the home.
