Very deep team, but getting all of the local talent? No

Maybe not “all” the local talent but the “top” local talent for sure.

To clarify: this is about ISL. Not other privates or publics that have great players coming next year. I think SR does have the top talent.

Okay, we will keep it to ISL. Still disagree even with the qualifier of "top" vs "all". Are you saying that Stone Ridge is again drawing successfully from Hero's and M&D? If so, that's impressive. If not, the top DC area teams, by rankings, are Pride (#12) and Stars. Their top players are not going to Stone Ridge, but a variety of privates (including Visi, Potomac, SSSAS and NCS in ISL) and publics. Next Level and BLC are not strong at the 2028 level, so "top" wouldn't apply. Their best players left for other clubs. So, if you have 6-7 from Hero's and M&D going to Stone Ridge, you may be mostly correct--if we keep it to ISL. If not, I have to disagree.

Yes. SR had great success getting players from Hero’s for 2028.

How many 2028 Hero’s Green players are going to SR?

As a follow up, there is a discussion on another board of the handful of “dominant” 2028 players on the top MD club teams with one of those being a Hero’s Green player. Is that player one of the 3 or 4 going to Stone Ridge next year?

Don't think so.

If this topic is about the 2025 season then there will be very few (if any) freshmen who will move the needle that much. 2026 and beyond, maybe, yes.

Given the depth of returning starters at the top end of the ISL, SR, Visi, Potomac, and SSSAS, this is probably correct.

No idea. But if they are Hero’s Green they are most likely very good players. I agree with the PP that this would very likely be the best incoming class of the ISL by a wide margin. The rich get richer.

I don't see how one could possibly conclude SR has the "best incoming class of the ISL by a wide margin" without knowing anything about the incoming class other than an indeterminant number of Hero's players are among them. In any event, I would suggest the 2028 forum would be a better forum for discussing this topic.

This has been said for several years with underwhelming results so take it with a grain of salt.

May get an indication when the Maryland AS rosters come out, if the girls list their high school instead of their middle school.

Ugh - 2028 parents - don't turn this into your forum. You've already been shut down once - don't ruin it for the rest of us.

I am not a 2028 parent and I asked the original question because I am an ISL parent. This is about ISL 2025 which includes both comings and goings from ISL teams among other things.

More importantly the difference in the speed and physicality. Playing against girls 2-3 years older often takes time to get accustomed to for Freshman. Some are able to keep but most need time.

Spot on plus the mental component of playing with older girls. True even for sophomores moving up to varsity.

That is why some that may be strong for their clubs don't necessarily see that same impact in HS, at least at first. It's a different ball game against the older girls.

Only had one senior so it seems like with the right coaching they could be strong next year since some of the Pride girls are already there

Current Potomac parent here. This post is from a mean-spirited disgruntled former player's parent, who thinks they are anonymous. We are very happy with our coach and her staff and are looking forward to having her coach our daughters again next year. Please let it go.

I second the motion!

Although there were a bunch of great 2027s who started this year, I don’t think any of them were major difference makers as freshman (And the 27 class probably has the most talent of anyone).

I think that says more about the league than it does about the freshman. A league where freshmen play an outsized role in a team's success, is not a great league.

I’m sure it’s hard for freshmen at Saint Anthony’s or Darien to make a difference. This is the year for the 27's to start being heard

What about WCAC? Isn't this thread both WCAC and ISL?

Technically, no, but I’d love to hear about that as well.
