JFD & QOSA feels weird

These are adults, capable of deciding with whom they want to work. You can spin your narrative all you want, but if *all* of the former JFD coaches chose to work with Shannon over Joe, that says as much about him as it does about her.

She hired all the coaches. Is that better? OP is right, there is some shady stuff going on here.

It's better if you acknowledge that these grown adults voluntarily accepted her offer of employment. And they certainly know Joe better than any of us do.

When I heard about this switch, I, too, though it seemed shady - but solely because when everyone leaves one person, chances are that one person did something to push them away. The subtle misogyny in this thread only reinforces that.

We love JDF for our recreational swimmers but now have to try QOSA for the location. It looks like it is not as flexible as JDF in terms of make-up policies as there is only one week per session to makeup. May also have to downgrade from stealth team to team prep since we’re not competitive swimmers.

Only one week? Not good because QO closes the pool quite often (old and bubble-style).

Blaming the woman for "taking" adults from the poor victimized male coach - that's what I'm talking about. The OP wouldn't even say Shannon's name, just "she," as if no one with half a brain could figure out the woman in question.

Well Joe certainly has his quirks. It was maybe time he retired. Guess we will never know the full story.

A club that has makeups? Or is that for a specific level or course? I'd love makeups or any kind of flexibility, but we've never been with anyone who offered them. It sounds like a good perk even if it's limited.

Most clubs offer multiple time slots a week and you could go any 1-4 times of these time slots. The new QOSA seems to just sign up the specific time slots and do not allow taking other time slots in a week.

Joe is a long time loved coach with a huge impact on the swim community. It seems like he got pushed out. Maybe Shannon did “take” all of the coaches with her. But it seems like the lanes were taken from JDF and with no where to go and potential for the business to fall apart, potential loss of income due to lack of lanes and no numbers, the coaches were “taken” over to QOSA by Shannon. Sounds pretty weird to me.

Word around is Joe’s attitude towards the kids are changing and he’s getting more and more miserable. That’s not a good combo for any coach or any child.

JFD doesn’t operate like a normal club. I think the antiquated structure made it hard for Shannon and the coaches to truly build the team. They were a farm team for NCAP and RMSC. Interested to see if they can build something on their own.

It’s almost impossible for any club to compete with RMSC in Montgomery county. NCAP scrapes by only because their size across DMV.
