Where my summer weather haters at?

Someone just will never get how miserable DC summers can be for those of us who can’t take heat and humidity and on top of it all are allergic to mosquitos. I would have moved north long time ago if I can, but our jobs are here. So I made it non-negotiable that we get away June - August every year. As in would have divorced DH if he were not onboard. And the second we retire we are out of here.

Where do you spend your summers?

I hate it. I moved away for grad school and didn't come back. Still hot and humid here in summer but less than DC. Any further north and I'd be in Canada....

OP here - SAME.

Everyone's all "yay! summertime fun!"

It's all miserable to me. I want to hibernate, and come alive in October. I hate the bugs, the stinkiness, the constant sweating, the insomnia from the long days and heat.

x100
I’m trying to take a different mindset this summer. I’m just hunkered down in the a/c doing inside things. I’m treating summer like other people treat winter.

It's horrible. My teen daughter has a chronic disease and can't tolerate heat or too much sun. We're looking at an indoor summer in the A/C. When she's an adult, she should move to a more northern, cloudier, cooler place. Like northern Europe or something.

+1 same here
I do feel a sense of hopelessness that this is just the very beginning of this hot, humid, stifling weather ... I feel like I can't breathe

You could move to the Northeast or out West.

It's amazing how much weather can impact one's mood. I'd prefer it cooler than today/yesterday, but they are infinitely better than the swampy heat & humidity we had last weekend/week. The cool mornings and dry air make me so happy, despite this being a long and exhausting week!

It's going to be 102 next Saturday. Uggghhhhhhhh

At least the days will begin to get shorter, in a few days.

I hate it with every fiber of my being.

Serious question for y’all:

Why did you come here? Why do you stay here?

The summer heat and humidity couldn’t have come as a surprise to you - everyone knows the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast is typically brutally hot and humid in the summer. So it’s not like you didn’t know better.

So why did you leave wherever you were (that presumably had better weather?) and come here where you’d be miserable?

What’s wrong with y’all?
