Where my summer weather haters at?

How y'all doin?

I'm tired and over it already, even though I know it's going to get much worse.

I have come a looong way to accepting DC summers in the last two decades that I have lived here, and tolerate it better than I used to. At some point I just accepted I was going to sweat and just acclimated to that feeling of being sweaty all the time when I was outside. Also no longer commuting to an office where I needed to wear actual business clothes has helped a lot.

I also am better at embracing going to the public pool and the beach. I wasn't against these things before but I grew up in a cooler climate where you didn't HAVE to do this stuff to get cool. I took me a while to get in the rhythm of planning theses outings as a way to combat the heat.

But still, those first few hot sticky days are never welcome. I always wind up reassessing my whole wardrobe and pulling out anything at all that will trap heat or show sweat, for the duration.

DC summer is way too humid and gross. We still get out and enjoy it every day. But I would love it if we had less humidity here!

For me, having a bunch of linen shorts and breezy tops is essential. Also saying F it with hair and makeup for two months

Here! One silver lining for me is the predictable evening thunderstorms. I love them .

Getting the f outta here next weekend. Someone just will never get how miserable DC summers can be for those of us who canโ€™t take heat and humidity and on top of it all are allergic to mosquitos. I would have moved north long time ago if I can, but our jobs are here. So I made it non-negotiable that we get away June - August every year. As in would have divorced DH if he were not onboard. And the second we retire we are out of here.

"with the nicer weather now"

I want to slap someone whenever I hear them saying something like this. I will never understand how anyone can enjoy this kind of weather.

Like pp I do enjoy a good thunderstorm, but the swampiness, the bugs, the blazing sun with the humidity. There's a reason "hell" in so many religions is described as hot. Because it's effing awful.

Yes- the thunderstorm is nice particularly because you have that little hope that it will bring in some cooler air once it's over. But then they move out and the same humidity settles in again. Fooled again. But I have hope every time.

What I really hate is outdoor exercise. It's just miserable.

I grew up in northern Virginia and still here. I think the summer can be worse than winter. The bugs, sweat, sunscreen. Where are these places you all speak of where you donโ€™t sweat in the summer?
