How tough/easy is it to get a $15-20 per hour job at age 62?

Not to over-generalize or discriminate or be an a**hole or anything.

Can’t wait to see what kind of “old person” you will be after karma gets through with you!

I’m sure this jerk is expecting to retire early and only losers work part 50. But they are representative of lots of employers unfortunately

She could do an online job maybe? Data entry, call center, help desk etc.

Have her look at the kind of places that hire older folks. Like clothing stores that sell to those over 40.

Reception/admin work if she has the skills.

I’m 55 and one of the hardest workers on my team. I don’t have childcare issues, haven’t had a sick day in 9 years, am quick to support rest of the team, and can’t imagine how I’d get hurt in the office anymore than a 30-year-old. The best workers are mothers. We are extraordinary multitaskers and we know how to get $hit done, done quickly, and done right!

When my grandmother became a widow she was left in a very tight spot financially. She found a nannying position and it worked out really well for her.

Maybe in a very physical job like a warehouse or something? But I don’t think we’re talking about that here.

Most 55 year olds have a ton of medical appts. You are an outlier.

I see older people working everywhere in retail. My mil is 75 and she does.

I’m 56 and never take off for an appointment. The annual medical appointments are my only appts and can be done after work hours. No sick days either. Jeez.

56 and my recent appointments have been to accompany my young adult children on their appointments (they are still on my insurance and I have questions as the primary insured).
I haven't taken a day off work in the past 6 months except when my uncle and aunt came into town and I escorted them around.

No - I'm a younger woman married to a 60 year old man. He never goes to the doctor, and he hardly ever gets sicks. It's crazy. He works harder than anyone I know.

My mother is 70 and she never goes to the doctor either.

She could get a job as a teacher's aide. FCPS uses them for kindergarten; kids like grandmotherly figures in K.
