I’ve been stuck at the DC courthouse all day…I’m shocked at the number of weddings here.

Some of us think weddings are a waste of money! I got married at the DC courthouse in 2017.

I’ve been to a wedding at DC Superior Court and it was lovely! They have a nice space for the ceremony and everything.

I think it’s great, and I think it’s smart. They were probably headed to nice meals afterwards with people who actually wanted to be with them. They saved a mint, better spent on a car or towards real estate.

It was so cute! They looked so happy. I really wanted to say congrats to each of them but I thought they might find me weird.

I got married at DC Superior Court and I loved all the congratulations I got as we made our way through the security line! After the wedding, our small party walked to the National Gallery for a bit where we got more congratulations and then we had lunch at a fancy restaurant downtown! It was a lovely day and so many good memories!

I got married at the courthouse 20 years ago when I was a broke college student. We used money to buy a fixer upper and take a 2 week honeymoon instead. Plus I’m not religious so I didn’t want to get married in a church. Had a lovely reception at a French restaurant that was closed for business that day and hosted us as a special event.

Yes, Memorial Day weekend is a fitting time to celebrate the death of one’s freedom.

I’ve been to two weddings at the courthouse in Lower Manhattan. A lot of people getting married there for all different reasons not money related.

Slow your roll, Hon.

I didn’t say a single disparaging word about them. All I said was I was surprised how many people got married here today.

DP. At 2:30 pm you posted that you were stuck at the courthouse all day and saw at least 4 wedding parties since 2 pm. Did you see any before then? Did you see any after 2 pm? Being shocked over four weddings seems hyperbolic. seems hyperbolic

What a ridiculous thing to say. Some of us prefer simple weddings regardless of income.

Did exactly this! Best decision ever.

One party has been in front of the courthouse for 30 minutes doing photos.

Had no idea so many courthouse weddings were done here.

Can you share more about why this surprises you enough to post about it?
