I’ve been stuck at the DC courthouse all day…I’m shocked at the number of weddings here.

I’ve seen at least 4 wedding parties come through since 2pm. Two of them were quite sizable at around 15-20 people in attendance per couple.

One party has been in front of the courthouse for 30 minutes doing photos.

Had no idea so many courthouse weddings were done here.

Shocker—most people aren’t UMC. Whoda thunk?

So? What’s your point OP? At least they are bothering to get married.

It is the Friday of a holiday weekend at the beginning of summer. Probably a popular date.

Really shameful of them to use a taxpayer-funded facility instead of paying five figures for a wedding in a private venue. Can't wait to vote out all the politicians who allow this free-riding!

Figures that in DCUMland no one finds this kind of sweet. I’d enjoy seeing happy people celebrating. I have no issue with courthouse weddings.

It's a Friday! You likely won't see as many on other days of the week. I think it's sweet.

Also, a lot of people get married at the courthouse and then have a wedding and reception at a destination with their families. Or get married internationally in their country of origin.

Congrats to the happy couples!

Slow your roll, Hon.

I didn’t say a single disparaging word about them. All I said was I was surprised how many people got married here today.

It's too expensive to get married here otherwise.

I like spending money on nice things, but I'm just not a fan of weddings. I got married at the court house with our parents and siblings in attendance, and then we booked a restaurant for 25 close friends and family members. Then we went on a six month "honeymoon".

I'm 53, divorced, and single and I think it sounds adorable. I'd love to run into this at the courthouse.

You had no idea that people get married at the courthouse? Probably best for everyone if you just stay in your bubble.

I sat on a jury recently and every time I entered the courthouse (each morning and when returning from lunch), I would see couples in the security line who were there to get married. It was so cute! They looked so happy. I really wanted to say congrats to each of them but I thought they might find me weird.
