No, many women are ridiculous. Part of being a good mother is choosing a good father for your children. In many cases that does not happen and no, the world does not stop, the children's lives are not destroyed. But that does not change what is best for the children: a loving, involved father in their lives. |
Aside from his politics, he is just an obnoxious, arrogant person who gives me a headache every time I hear him rant. If he were my father I'd go crazy. |
I was a single mom - sometimes life doesn't follow the 'ideal script'. In my case the alternatives were adoption or abortion. It was hard and rewarding. Today I have a great kid, loving husband and another child on the way. It's unpredictable what lies around the corner. Faith and hope and good friends help. What I think is unrealistic is the single mom portrayal of Jennifer say on Friends is that the baby never cries, old friends still want to hang out with you all the time, no end to zany madcap fun....it glamorizes single parenting rather than getting at the heart of what is so meaningful about parentig in general : love and sacrifice. I wish there were more honest discussions and portrayals in media- single parenting as an alternative to adoption or abortion, without all the fluff. |
Is this about her movie? I am sure she loves the publicity. |
A molester is not a loving parent. The choice is not between an evil dad and no dad; we are talking about a good dad or no dad. I still believe most people would prefer to have a good one to none at all, no matter how wonderful Mom is. |
Here's Aniston's response to O'Reilly. It's perfect. She's a class act.
"Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. "And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who've not yet found their Bill O'Reilly, I'm just glad science has provided a few other options." |
Simply because you don't llike his politics, nor do I, but I have no knowledge or have heard anything that would indicate that he is an unfit parent. Even though he is not your father, he is, apparently, succeeding in driving you crazy, anyway. You don't have to watch his show. Turn it off. |
Plenty of women think they are married to terrific men who are wonderful fathers. Some of these fathers rape their daughters and their mothers either don't know or choose not to know.
Statistically, girls are safer with two loving moms. So take your judgments and shove them up your ass. Oh, please. Show me your your proof. |
Is it just me or is someone introducing super negative /crude language to this board of late? To me its the verbal equivalent of wilding on the metro in gallery place. The difference is I can at least 'check out'. Strong opinions are one thing, but 'silly bitch' and 'your ass' on a list serve cheapens dialogue and does not sit well with my Sunday coffee and peaceful morning breeze. Please restrain yourself or you'll fond yourself talking in an echo chamber- fun? |
Welcome to high school. The chick with anger management issues is staring from her corner with the other freaks in the cafeteria. Dressed in all black, with eyeliner lacquered thick, she looks like some Goth witch not Ally Sheedy in the Breakfast Club (the look she was actually going for).
Silly girl no need to call names. One day you will get your makeover and then Emilio Estevez will finally fall in love with you! |
Good analogy. I guess it is the chick with anger management- but to me that level of crudity is the deadening of someones soul. The same lack that allows people to kicksomeone in the head for their sneakers. Sad. And actually, I can leave. |
Hey Jeff, is all the verbal garbage coming from one person, or are there two? In any case, why is (s)he not blocked? |
Wow, we're not allowed to use profanity around here anymore? NP here but there is no way I can discuss Bill O'Reilly without profanity. |
I was the one who suggested the blocking, and I did not mean to bar profanity. I have used a fair amount myself, and I see nothing wrong with saying someone fucked up when they have done so. But some of the recent postings have been pure sleaze, aimed not only at a candidate (Vince Gray, in particular) but at other posters. When it gets to be totally gratuitous and devoid of any substance other than bile, I find it objectionable, although much of it is so over the top that I think it's got to be a Lisa Lampanelli wannabe. |
Umm, back to Bill O'Reilly . . . didn't he get in trouble for sexually harrassing one of his female employees? In that case, no---he wouldn't be such a great father role model if that is his idea of how women should be treated in the workplace by their male employers . . .
I love Jennifer Aniston's response. This is her business. And I would bet there are any number of children currently living in what would appear to be the "ideal" 2 parent home who would be substantially better off being raised by Ms. Aniston than by the parents they have. She shouldn't have to sacrifice her desire for children because some dingbat 16 year old watching too many "Friends" reruns thinks it's cool to have unprotected sex. Come to think of it . . . maybe THAT was Bristol Palin's problem. |
