Really deconditioned, trying to lose around 8 lbs

The thing about walking the same loop every day is that it's really hard to measure progress or figure out how hard to push yourself, so you hit a plateau right away.

I would look for a structured program like Couch to 5K. It will gradually increase the intensity of the workout in a way that pushes you, but is manageable.

Have you had a physical to make sure your heart, etc is healthy?
