OP. Surprised to hear how common this is. If my husband were a doctor who didn’t know how to treat something in his specialty I’d be concerned. Ya’ll sound unperturbed.

The tax lawyer one is weird. Does he have severe adhd? What prevented him from filing his taxes? Because that one isn’t just about competence. That one’s illegal.

My DH is a graphic designer and web designer who has failed to make me a website, despite saying that he would. 20+ years later I’ve given up and just used a template based platform, which isn’t that unique/pretty, but is clean and functional.

Doctors go to use resources ALL the time if they need help trouble shooting something. Which it seems like is what her boyfriend did (googled it).

DP. Perhaps they are splitting the cost and she wants to make sure he can afford his share of it? I don’t know why you automatically jump to the conclusion that a discussion of travel budget = gold digger. Your response does come off very incel-like.
