What do kids wear at Sidwell?

Maybe her kid was more impressive. Won't be out of state because they're moving here. Previous may have also reached out. Are you jealous?

Great idea!

For context - his prior school had no jeans or sweatpants and collared shirts (mostly polo/golf shirts) and were allowed to wear casual t-shirts/hoodies only if they had a school logos (until 8th - when they allowed broader set of tshirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies)

Is there any special dress code for the weekly mandatory church service?

Dress like you just rolled out of bed - tube socks and crocs as well! And I’m not even kidding.

I don't believe Sidwell has a different dress code for the weekly Quaker Meetings

Short answer - no.

I suspect there is some general dress code somewhere but it wasn't anything we ever had to think about. For example, I'd suspect a shirt with hate speech would not be acceptable.

Or....how about you wear what you normally wear outside of school.....Sidwell is not a place where there is some "style" you need to emulate.

Oh for sure. I remember when they banned Redskins paraphernalia, during the time when the team was being called on to change the name and the owner was insisted he never would.

Shorts, joggers, hoodies, school logo t-shirts and that broccoli top hair cut. Rarely do I see upper school boys wear jeans.

Meeting for worship is come as you are. It's a meeting.

It sounds like you are trying to make this sound like church - it's not like church. You sit in a room quietly and reflect and people stand up and say things if they'd like to. There is no "service" or ritual like a Catholic Mass.

I think the no jeans is a generational thing - not a Sidwell thing.

I have a kid at a different Friends school and the weekly meeting isn’t like catholic mass where you’re expected to dress up. I know my kid and their friends just wear whatever they normally wear to school.

Packing for a trip recently, I asked DS if he wanted jeans...
He replies, "Are we going somewhere fancy?"

LOL!

Mine won't even buy jeans - they say they are uncomfortable.
