My son is entering 9th from a uniform school out of state.
What do freshmen boys wear? |
| How could they have let in an out of state person with so many DMV applicants? Are you a politician? |
| When my kid switched from a uniform school to a non-uniform school we went onto the school's social media pages and checked out all the pictures to get a sense of what kids were wearing. |
Happens all the time. |

Are you saying that families moving to the area shouldn't be allowed to gain admissions to private schools? |
Great idea! |
NYC maybe? |
Weird question. People move to the DC area all the time. None of them should be allowed admission to Sidwell unless their parents are politicians? |
|
They should wear whatever they normally feel comfortable with. There is not one style at Sidwell. My son was never dressy and the schoo in general isn't dressy. He wore anything from joggers/sweats to casual pants.
For context - his prior school had no jeans or sweatpants and collared shirts (mostly polo/golf shirts) and were allowed to wear casual t-shirts/hoodies only if they had a school logos (until 8th - when they allowed broader set of tshirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies) |
| I agree with the PP. Sidwell students wear a wide variety of clothing. There are plenty of pj bottoms and t-shirts, sweats, and jeans. But you’ll also see polos and khakis. There isn’t an obvious focus on name brands, but you’ll definitely see students wearing Moncler jackets, Golden Goose sneakers, Lululemon, etc. |
It's not a state school. |
Easy. Their kid is smarter than yours. |
What a bizarre question. People move in an out of DC ALL THE TIME and apply to private schools....and leave private schools.... |
| I mean, a kid from elsewhere may bring a little geographic diversity instead of yet another kid from DC. |
