I can't wait until it's over!!! Graduating Senior and a rising Junior. Both boys.
Just so much sh*t and unfairness and club closures and mergers and injuries (that f***d them when new coaches showed up who didn't know them). Rising Jr needs to find a team. The same absolute BS happened to older brother at this same age. He eventually landed on a MLSNext team where he was able to start this past year. But, my god, the politics and BS that he encountered was outrageous. He is playing in college next year. Rising Jr was victim of circumstances and left w.out a home so will be trying to find one this Fall. Plans to quit HS soccer, not Club, like older sibling because he also has a very tough academic load Jr year and wants to play in college too. |
| We took a break after U9, but back at it for U11 and next year's U12. |

Yes, my daughter is. She’s 13 but in 7th grade so no club season in the fall just optional practices as the older 2010s enter high school. She didn’t love it enough and I didn’t push her to stay because it’s $$$. She’s on the 3rd team. Also her younger sister got a spot in an ECNL team so that travel for two of them was going to be a logistical nightmare on weekends.
She’s focusing on track and volleyball. |
Hopefully he’ll be able to get his old job back. If not, having coached Valor he should be qualified for Red Lobster fry cook. |
not anymore that's why he went to coach at Valor |
It was a demotion for him.
|
lmao let em cook |
How's her volleyball experience? Is it still a reasonable sport even though she didn't start at young age? |
And how’s her track going? |
She’s only done rec for both, but she’s never lost a footrace on the track (tied once) or on the soccer field. First season with rec track and she’s clearing 4’6” on her high jump without any training and matching her long jump with the high schoolers she’s training with, so she’s excited. She’s done rec volleyball for three years and I’ve signed her up for some club summer camps to see what the clubs are like. So soccer won’t be her sport, but that’s fine. She’s learned about commitment, teamwork, confidence, and all the other non-soccer attributes of the sport. It’s been a joy to watch her grow as a person and player. Her coach is an amazing person. |
That’s the age my son quit. He insisted he was done with soccer forever. But after 2 years off, he woke up one day and declared he was going back at u14. He’s now a sophomore exploring playing in college (D3). You never know! |
| I wish my upcoming 2012 would. She's a fine athlete, but soccer isn't her thing. She just wants to hang out with her friends. She's good enough to make a school team, but she doesn't put in any effort off the field. If she did, she would be much better and I could stomach the 2500 better |
FYI. My 2012’s ECNL fee for next year is $4,750 (not in DCUMland anymore). Before travel costs and mandatory sleep away camp. That’s just the club fee. So could be a lot worse. |
Not this year, but both of my kids quit travel in 9th/10th grade. They needed to focus more on academics in high school. Committing to 3-4 practices per week plus travel on the weekends got a bit too much. They started playing high school Rec soccer. Still fun but a of less commitment. |
| most travel kids would not find playing rec soccer fun. My son would HATE it. |
