Depressed and need to do something BIG to shake things up

Get braces. Crooked teeth decrease happiness by 66% (in my opinion).

Volunteer! I applied and am currently training to be a Master Gardener. It’s so far forced me to get out of my head at least sometimes and help other people, mingle (shudder) and get out in nature.

You could also take up a hobby and go all in. Take a class to get better. Or take instrument lessons.

You don’t need to buy anything, including a tattoo. Consider a graduate degree even if you already have one. Moving is good too. Totally dedicating yourself to health/strength/a new sport.
