Never mind, they are delusional (or scammers)

Awesome, A think tank. Do they actually field teams where 4 kids pay for he other 12 or where B teams are expected to fund free A teams, or do they just say that's what should happen? |
I can't remember what the club's communications have said on this, but I don't think any of the parents I know are confused about the fact that it's ECNL-R. Still likely better than NCSL, though. |
I have a grand idea! Why don't YOU pay for one child to play? Pay for two if you can afford it. Put your money where your mouth is. Be aware, not everyone who says they need a "scholarship " or assistance in paying. You won't mind though, I'm sure. What do you say? |

So? What is the goal? If play HS soccer great. If college then club is the only path. |
Agree. And even so, you can play both school and ECNL. Or ECNL-R if the case may be. Maybe DCSC is trying to improve themselves. |
| ECNL-R and EDP are about the same. |
Why do they need to improve? It sounds like they're already great "Our players participate in the EDP, National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), and USYS National League, which are the top leagues in the area. Additionally, teams have access to competing in the most competitive tournaments and college showcases throughout the calendar year." https://www.dcsoccerclub.org/travelfaqs |
How are they scamming, did you look at the schools? The only P4 is Syracuse, not exactly a soccer power. They are all academic schools cause of NW demographics and education; or regional colleges where kids at DCSC are able to play D2-3 soccer. |
It's one thing to want to complain about fees and to worry about what they'd be if a smaller share of the club's players were able to pay. But you can't seriously be arguing that the pay-to-play system we have in U.S. soccer is good, in general. I don't see much of a path to changing it (you'd need the professional clubs to be much more dominant, revenue-wise, than they are, and you'd need a lot of lower-division smaller clubs in metro areas, so that each pro club could just set up its own academy system -- it works in Europe because soccer isn't competing for cash with football, baseball, basketball and hockey there). But our national teams, and our domestic ones, would surely be better off if money wasn't an impediment to getting kids into developmental programs. |
| I'm surprised by this ECNL-R move, especially on the girls side. My DDs have played against the 2011 and 2009 teams. Unless there is some significant dramatic improvement in quality, they are going to get killed in ECNL-R league play. |
| Are they going to be worse than McLean RL, I don't know? |
