You should be able to find something in Arlington

I rented a nice condo in a nice complex in Annandale on half that a few years ago. Prices have gone up but still totally doable on 100K. Many parts of Fairfax as well and probably Arlington.

Mount Rainier

Forest Glen, I have friends at a similar income in Friendship Heights and Rockville’s

A few years ago we thought about moving to VA, and there were nice apartments in McLean.

It depends on your budget. How much can you spend on housing??

$1K a month? You will need to spend a higher portion of your income on this.

This must be a joke. I spent $900 a month on rent when I made $36k. GTFO here with $1k.

You need to spend at least 2k. You will have plenty left.

OP wants to live in Nova and pay 1k. This has to be a troll post.

I live in NWDC. 1-bedroom condos are $2000-$2500+ here.
They are probably the same in Arlington/Falls Church, but newer and better selection.

$2500 for a "nice" 1br on the Hill is pretty standard

Exactly, 1k in this day and age is not enough even for a studio. Only enough if ok with group house.

You really need more like 2k (assuming 1br). Also, it will be cheaper to move, if you can wait, in October/the fall (rent prices go down by then, in summer they tend to be much higher).

Nowhere in the DC area can you rent for $1000 a month. Maybe you could get a bedroom in a shared house.
