Target pride collection

I have LGBTQ family members and support pride month but I'm not interested in the merchandise at all. I think having policies which support your LGBTQ employees matters the most, and having stores which welcome everyone.

It's not like your opinion is valid or matters, though. It's like you think someone cares if you found it "too much."

Evidently it did because Target changed course.

Were you the one calling in the bomb threats?

Ooooohkay.
I’m sure it’s the unhinged RIGHT that made this a huge issue, right?
I mean it’s literal the unhinged LEFT that decided to put the sexuality of CHILDREN at center stage, and then express shock and outrage when this isn’t wholly embraced by the normies.

If it was such a great idea—why isn’t Target ramping it up instead of scaling back?
The dollar is king, and you and I both know that if it had actually been a financial success of an idea, they’d be doubling the inventory and visibility of these in-store displays. But they aren’t.
And it was t due to loud angry “unhinged” protests. The “unhinged right” actually kind of sucks at being unhinged—and they rarely organize and pitch tents in order to rally around a cause. (Mostly bc the “unhinged right” have jobs to go to and are too busy with kids and family and the activities of being a contributing member of society to stage some kind of riot over it.)
So I will concede that you may not like that not everyone wants to discuss sexuality and sexual orientation with children or adorn their kids in special clothing to support your sexually-charged cause, and that’s probably triggering to you. But “unhinged?”—that’s not really the label worn by the right.

You are sick.

And the "unhinged right" does not have jobs to go to. The toothless cult is dumb as shit. And yes they are unhinged. Putting Trump's crap face on cars, the AMERICAN FLAG, houses, etc. it's a dam cult.

Target lol not a financial decision a blackmail decision.

You are a moron.

Yeah, the article notes they had several BOMB THREATS last year arising out of right-wing dissatisfaction with rainbow gear, so they are cutting back on some stores. My guess is that they'll have as much or more in Maryland, but maybe not so much in Alabama, and Texas will be store by store. That's all smart business probably.

But given that this is the Fashion and Beauty forum, it's weird that this went SO political SO QUICKLY. Since this is the fashion forum, the post was really more -- do you also look forward to Target's Pride collection as a fashion item (rather than as an "identity" item) because rainbows are just so damn fun? I would do my whole house in rainbow-chic if that was more socially acceptable.

Which article said the right did the bomb threats? Because I remember very clearly it was the left that did it when Target pulled back because of the boycott from the right.

Are they going to bring back their tuck-friendly swimwear for minors?

From The Hill last year:

South Burlington (Vt.) police chief Shawn Burke said news outlets in Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York all received the same emailed threat to Target stores over the weekend. It accused the retail chain of betraying the LGBTQ+ community and named the locations of four stores in the three states, including the South Burlington location.

“I think it had quite an impact locally,” Burke said, according to the Post. “It makes people a little bit uneasy to think about what’s going on. We’re more and more seeing this type of behavior in terms of swatting at schools locally and in terms of stores like Target [nationally].”

Target initially received criticism for its LGBTQ+ initiatives last month, with the retail chain announcing last month it removed some Pride month merchandise in its stores last month after facing backlash from customers, citing concerns about their workers’ safety.

After the announcement, company stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah received bomb threats from people who were claiming to be unhappy with the removal of the Pride merchandise, the Post reported.

Yes, this is the reply of a normal, sane, reasonable person.

And fwiw, these shirts weren’t putting anyone’s sexuality in display. They were regular Cat & Jack shirts in fun colors and designs (e.g a pink construction truck shirt) that people lost their ever-living minds about.

I guess there weren't enough pink construction shirt buyers to make a difference. So, their opinions do carry weight after all.

I like that dress A LOT but I’m short and those types of dresses make me look like a frilly toilet paper cover.

then dont purchase it???

I am super religious and think easter is an abomination against the Creator---- I just dont buy easter stuff. I also would rather have no kids v. gay kids .. so I dont buy the Pride stuff. why do people think they have rights beyond the right of refusal to support with your own money?

I voted for gay marriage before Obergefell and fully support gay rights. I get annoyed/turned off by the explosion of Pride merchandise. It’s nothing but virtue signaling.
