We should raise this to our legislators - need something like an Uber/taxi exception.

As someone who drives this frequently, I think this is an unqualified victory, not a failure. I suppose it depends on your perspective.

I’m an uber in dc area … I’ve been driving for Uber and Lyft for over 7 years…. And I hope I can answer your question and explain this whole misunderstanding …. requesting a ride that required to use I 66 in the morning to where DC before 9:30 am or go on the opposite in front Royal before 7 pm if you don’t have three people in the car including the driver … the driver pays the tolls, not the passengers not uber … so if you’re traveling to DC and you are paying $40 the driver collect less than 50% ( 2024) on top of that the tolls go up to $36 in the morning .. I don’t think it’s fair for that driver to take use the tall … i’ve had many customers who actually bring their own easy pass to avoid any issues and not miss their flight. My advice to you if you have less than two people bring your own easy pass or plan accordingly because Uber and pet and driver have bad relationship where the driver always feel over doesn’t care about them only care about making money and this is an example of that they put the driver in the situation. Will they have to explain to the passengers ….

if traveling to DC from Arlington or from Vienna or Tysons and your request in the ride and you’re paying $36. I think it makes sense to just order Uber every day is cheaper than having your own car and paying $36 for the toll. So this is just a common sense bring your own easy pass problem solved.

Dumb question but I work and live near Tysons so I never have to take I66 during rush hour. I’m in meetings downtown all week in DC.

Have you heard of the metro?

Buy a car. Offer the toll amount in cash up front and double it so they can get back…

Wow. First world problem. Take Metro like normal people do.

I sometimes am able to convince the driver to take it with the promise (which I follow through on) of providing them a tip that covers it, plus an actual tip.

Now, finding driver who actually have the toll tag in their car, that's a separate problem. It always amazes me for the ones in this area who don't have one.

This is my thought too. Because the fees vary and constantly change they can't automatically tack on a set fee.
