I’m an uber in dc area … I’ve been driving for Uber and Lyft for over 7 years…. And I hope I can answer your question explaining this whole misunderstanding …. requesting a ride that required to use I 66 in the morning to DC from 6 to 9:30 AM and 3 to 7 pm towards front Royal , if you don’t have three people in the car including the driver … the driver pays the tolls, not the passengers not uber … so if you’re traveling to DC and you are paying $40 the driver collect less than 50% ( 2024) on top of that the tolls go up to $36 in the morning .. I don’t think it’s fair for that driver to use the tall … i’ve had many customers who actually bring their own easy pass to avoid any issues and not miss their flight. My advice to you if you have less than two people bring your own easypass or plan accordingly because Uber and drivers have bad relationship where the driver always feel uber doesn’t care about them only care about making money and this is an example of that they put the driver in the situatio having to explain to the passengers ….
if traveling to DC from Arlington or from Vienna or Tysons and your request in the ride and you’re paying $36. I think it makes sense to just order Uber every day is cheaper than having your own car and paying $36 for the toll. So this is just a common sense bring your own easy pass problem solved.
