Same here. And my kids love CDs, listen to stories on CDs, etc. Lexus kept a CD player in their GX SUV until 2023. We bought a 2017 GX last year, and although the CD player didn't figure into it, we really are delighted that it is there and use it all the time. |
Not sure if you consider this luxury but I bought a new Lexus GX last year, and it has a CD player. Sound is great and I got to dig out my old CDs |
I'm 65 and I use streaming. Donate all your CDs, or throw them out. Invest 10 bucks a month to Spotify. I love it so much, it's the best $$ I spend every month. Music, podcasts, anything I want. |
50 year old here, and I am full on streaming. My sister has a CD player in her car, and a CD got stuck in it while trying to eject, so device was stuck ON even when the car was off and was killing her battery. A mechnical player like that is fraught with problems. If you like music, there are a ton of streaming NPR stations for classical, country, jazz, alternative and spotify has a free option which has some ads. But if you are buying a new luxury car, I assume the $11 month for spotify won't be a hardship... |
Im 51 OP and bought a 2018 Honda crv in 2019. No CD player, I was devastated as well. I actually got the manual out to be sure I wasn’t just missing it. Nope.
I’m with you 100%. |
+1, this is what I do too |
I am almost 70 and was recently excited to find this phone holder that slides into the CD player on my car which I haven't used in many years. I listen to all my music on Spotify which doesn't cost me anything since I'm on my adult son's family plan. I love my playlists and being able to listen to podcasts and audio books on my phone which is in a fantastic location for being able to see it and touch it thanks to the CD player!

The 2024 Subaru Outback Touring comes with a standard built-in CD player |
Me too!! My 2013 suburu has one but a broken cd got stuck in it. I bought a portable cd player that I can connect to blue tooth but I rarely use it. So bummed!! |
Amazon has CD players that plug into the car USB port. Probably easier to just rip the CDs to a USB directly. It's not hard.
Hate streaming. I want to listen to my stuff. Nothing more nothing less. |
Just get what car you want and then have an aftermarket head installed: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_300/All-Car-Stereos.html?tp=5684&fa=1&o=p&pg=2#&nvpair=AG_Type|ffCD Make sure it also will play files via usb, specifically FLAC format, which is lossless and rip your cds to that and play those; or make sure the stereo that comes w/ the car plays FLAC. My car is so old it has both a CD and a cassette tape player! The kids think it’s neat. |
I do this as well if I really want to use my old CDs but I tell no one, for obvious reasons |
My Subaru has a cd player. The guy told me they know their audience. |
Do the newer models have them? That’s so funny… the car I am planning to trade in is indeed a Subaru. |
