| And no, they are not getting ECNL-RL. That would also require a vote as well as a club history and teams in all the age groups. No chance of that presently. |
If you go to their website you can see main fields now (KAA, Pine ridge, Herndon HS maybe?) - U9 will have scotts run next year. |
| Hi- U9 will play at Scott’s Run next year, so fall 2024? |
It takes a lot of success ( in multiple age groups on both boys and girls) in EDP or other middle leagues to even apply for ECNL with votes from other clubs to be accepted. But they might be able to get into EDP with some success by any age group to start. |
| To apply for ecnl? Do you mean ncsl? |
Not true for NCSL. They let in teeny tiny clubs with no fields all the time-as long as someone running the Teeny Club has a buddy at Big Club,. |
Why are their fields so all over the place? That's not really very convenient. I had to google Scott's Run to see where it was. Pine Ridge is in Annandale. If I try out in Herndon, I'm expecting to practice somewhere reasonably close by, not Annandale or Tysons's Corner. Good Lord. |
| It should be called AC McLean Virginia because who the club caters to. Junior management is questionable as the club feels unorganized and they only care about working with the elite kids while the rest stand around. They take kids on a rolling basis (and they take everybody). Younger teams are jammed with kids of varying ages, 7 year olds on U10, 9 year olds on U12. Many who have never played before. If you don’t live in McLean you and your kid will feel left out. |
They don’t even offer a U9. They should but instead they have 30 players divided on two U10 teams. |
| I hope they do well, but they posted something that made me scratch my head the other day. They promoted 2 kids for making ODP and described it as a way to be scouted by the USMNT. Which we all know is what ODP is there for anymore. Makes me question their understanding of the landscape. |
It's a stretch, but to be sure, making the ODP national team is among one of the hardest selections in soccer. Most people around here have sour grapes because it is tremendously difficult to make it to the NE regional team, the have room for 4 kids max rom here. So, undoubtably, USNT scouts do look at ODP kids who do make the national selection. For every 100 ECNL players, only 4 might make the regional team. And about 1 out of 200 ECNL players might make the national ODP team. It's a feather in soccer player's cap... its just too hard to bank on it though. |
