It uses the bolts of fabric more efficiently and is easier to sew, resulting in the sweatshop workers being able to churn out more pieces per day. The corporate overlords try to convince us that this is "style". |
THIS!!!! A few years ago, Banana Republic made some great t shirts. At least for me - they were fitted in all the right places but not clingy. Now they are paper thin and see through. GAP t shirts are fine for winter when I wear them under things but on their own - they are shapeless. Who makes a good white t shirt for someone in their 40's who does not have a perfect body but does not want a tent or a boxy fit?? |
Not true for this 5’4” woman. Apparently we’re each trying the others ideal pants at Everlane! |
Absolutely this 100%. These boxy shirts, superwide pants and oversized jackets are not what the WH press secretary or newscasters are wearing, let alone actors on TV shows. Designer brands still do sell normal professional clothes, it just costs 5x as much. You can't get it at BR and Ann Taylor like 10 yrs ago. No idea why. |
The struggle is real! I feel the same about BR tees- why’d they have to ruin a good thing. I’ve had decent luck with Pact tees. I like the Rag and Bone slub tees too when they go on sale. |
I posted above but this exact price point (BR) used to have dependably nice, fitted clothes for regular professionals and ppl who wanted dress nicely without a huge amount of effort and clothes hunting and fussy styles. It's completely gone now. |
Wearing a pair of black Everlane jeans as I write this, 5'2", size 4. The fabric is soft and luxurious, and not flimsy. I love them.
Tshirts I go with J Crew. Agree that everything over bought from Madewell turned put to be junk and fell apart or became see through when wearing |
Was just going through my t-shirts and feel so validated that everyone is having the same experience with Madewell. Maybe slouchy and see through was the look back then and I didn’t notice how sloppy it looked until now? But I just wanted to throw them all away! |
