Agreed, and once all EV cars have the same charging tech (starting next year), Tesla's major road trip selling point will be reduced as well. |
I sold some, but will buy back after I'm done with Bitty.
I don't expect any company to have smooth sailing. Definitely not buying any other company making cars. |
But then they will be getting royalties on ALL the EVs, and not just their own. (FYI I hate Elon too which is why I don't have a tesla.) |
The new NACS is an open standard. Tesla does not earn royalties from it. The benefit for Tesla comes from adding a large pool of users for its charging network. |
But again, like battery technology, Tesla will only have the advantage for so long in its charging network. As the market matures, competitors will be able to compete on price and other factors as they build out competing networks- since they will have the same charging standard. |
Yeah, that's why car advertising is all about emphasizing the financial aspects of a car. /s Moreover, Musk made Tesla about his persona and his vision. So he's built into that now. He's not just a regular CEO. And then he went and bought a major social media platform. Even if you don't care about his right-wing crap, he falls for/amplifies misinformation and gives juvenile simplistic takes on things which makes everyone question his judgment. He's also just being wildly "cringey" and seemingly having a mid-life crisis in the most public way possible. Who wants that baggage when they buy a car? There are plenty of good alternatives. |
