This is a weird thing for you and your DH to be concerned about

This is all correct. Although the vast majority of male UTIs are caused by an STD.

Assuming a young married male who isnt cheating, a UTI is almost certainty.

I mean, 48 yo straight, monogamous men do not get UTIs.

It's one of the causes.
There's also prostate issues, urinary tract blockages, immune disorders, and being uncircumcised.

Additionally assuming he has an STD because of his wife cheated because op doesn't like her personality is both ignorant and misogynistic.

You and your husband seem perfect for each other

+1 and if he had bloody pee, that isn't even automatically a UTI. I wonder if OP's DH actually knows the guy was tested and diagnosed, or if OP's DH just assumes it's a UTI. Because he's pretty freaking ignorant and seems to make a lot of stupid assumptions.

Also, OP, why are you not weirded out that your DH seems to be rather...gleefully?...gossiping about someone else's bloody pee and sex life? Is he just a gossipy jerk all the time, or is this new for him?

Wow. A blanket statement about EVERY 48 year old, straight, monogamous man ever, proclaimed as a Universal Truth! Thanks, Doc!

While STDs are a common cause of UTIs in men, they are not the sole cause. Prostate issues (which are not just an "old guy" thing), diabetes, various inflammatory conditions, and kidney stones can all cause blood in urine. I'm not a doctor but I found that information in about five seconds. You can too, though I suspect you prefer the absolute certainty of claiming to know so definitively the one and only possible cause of UTIs in any middle-aged man, anywhere, ever.

Can a man get a UTI from a woman with a UTI? Or get one due to sex with a woman with a yeast infection?

Medical worker here.

Men of all ages can get a UTI that isn’t the result of an STD. Some reasons are

- Bacteria from the rectum can enter into the urethra and cause Escherichia coli (E. coli). There are other strains but this is the most common.

- Not emptying bladder sufficiently

- Prostate, nerve, and spine issues.

- Poor hygiene

- Weakened immune system

- sex

A UTI can happen as a result of an STD but it can also happen without one. A UTI is not indicative of cheating.

He can but it’s more rare. Men will not get a UTI from a yeast infection but they can get a yeast infection from the woman. It’s still relatively low chance but possible.

From cottage cheese partner, yes.

Do they use spermicide as part of their birth control routine? That increases the risk of UTI.

It's much harder for men to get a UTI in ladies the rectum is pretty close by the vagina but men much harder.

Doctors play averages, so, yes, if a straight, monogamous, middle aged man came to them with a UTI the very first thing they think is STD. Theres a saying in medicine: "If you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras."

So while there can be other causes, the usual cause is STD. Not sure why so are so bent out of shape by women cheating. They do it all the time.

yeast infection =/= UTI

UTIs are NOT STDs.
Yeast infections are NOT STDs.

Both are more commen in women, but can be transmitted to and from men.
