Maybe they were okay size wise the year before but didn't develop like the others and got left behind? |
If your unhappy, wouldn’t other MLSNext teams welcome MLSNext players from Bethesda? That’s crazy though that an MLSNext team would lack field space to practice - isn’t it required that they practice at least 4 times a week? |
The thread called “DCSC Soccer Club” has some good recommendations of alternative clubs to Bethesda for players not aiming for MLSNext or ECNL. |
Potomac parent masquerading as BSC disgruntled parent We see you 😉 |
| On the other DC Soccer Club thread, DCXI and City Sporting Club are mentioned. Those two could be good alternatives for western PG County kids. They definitely have boosters/coaches on these message boards. Other alternatives include Cerritos, Laurel, and Total Futbol. All of them have well recognized coaches and have had successful teams in different age groups. I read the post and all I got from it was that older DMSA players would have the opportunity to play for Bethesda, which they can do already, by trying out. Is Bethesda offering training or fields in PG County for DMSA kids? If not, I have no idea why anyone would drive to Bethesda for anything but the top level team. |
Ok... both my kids play on Bethesda so not sure what you are getting at? Its common discussion among Bethesda parents. |
There is nothing close enough to us to switch. Potomac or Paragon would be the only other decent clubs to go to and the levels just aren't high enough there yet. |

Maybe they started growing in September after the decision was made
|
| They were criticized for not serving PG county so this is their way of appeasement. |
Why would a MoCo based team be criticized (by whom) for not serving PG County (or any other county)? |

Tryout info. It looks like they are staying in the hyattsville area for practices. It’s a bit misleading to say that they are included in a roster eligible for MLSNext and ECNL teams. Any player at that level would have left DMSA already and not sure whether the training you’ll get as part of the a new DMSA/BSC team will get you to that level, if they won’t be training with the top teams. |
Exactly. The Dematha coach also works for Bethesda and he's basically stringing along families in PG County who dont understand the soccer landscape and think he'll help them get scholarships to play soccer at Dematha. The club is a hot mess and charges Bethesda like fees for D level training and subpar tournament access. Families and top players were threatening to leave when they came up with this rouse and are hoping that the Bethesda name will help them recruit. If your child has rec level talent, but you want to pay travel level prices, then fall for it. Otherwise, if your child is good and wants to be on talented well coached teams, there are several much better options in PG County. |
| This is so obvious. What market does BSC not currently tap into very well? Is it intential exclusion or by accident likely becuase nobody wants to share a sideline with a typical BSC parent? I don't know the answers but I have some leading questions. For folks not reading between the lines this is not a black/white binary going on. The better MLSN programs around here especially those in VA have always cornered the latino market better, and the first gen americans from African and Asia better than BSC, and its starting to show. Declan from Kensington and his buddies from Potomac are not able to prop up BSC any longer |
Potomac isn’t high enough yet, but getting ECNL this year has brought a lot of talent their way. They’re on the right track. |
