Is this William and Mary? |
|
Why are you anxious about it? My kid didn’t go and we never even gave it a second thought.
It is more important to go if you are trying to decide between different choices. Or go if you want to but no big deal either way |
| It is definitely more important if you are on the fence, but if you have time/ability to go, you should go. I thought that they were worthwhile events. If you don't go, you will be perfectly fine though. |
Harvard. |
William and Mary was packed. It was very well organized but in the end not really necessary. The kids will get more info on May 1st about signing up for housing. Class registration starts in July. Move in is Aug 23. |
| William and Mary had over 1200 students and families. My son was working at the club fair and had a lot of fun. Beautiful day, lots of people. |
We were VERY impressed with W&M's DFAS! You couldn't ask for better weather too! |
Yes! Even my kid who was not excited at all about W&M (and didn't even want to come to DFAS) conceded that DFAS was well done and is now seriously considering W&M. It is now in the top two choices (before, it was #5). The kids there were really awesome. |
| We had the impression that most of the kids at admit day were there to help them decide or because they were accepted but had never visited. |
| Admit day helps to decide if so t know if want to go. If already knows and wants to do something else, let them. They are (or should be) on their own in couple months. |
On Harvard’s, it’s been very well done so far. Parents can log on for part of it, it feedback from kids is that it’s been very informative, fun and relaxed. |
|
Is Harvard's online? If so, that totally makes sense why so many would attend.
My DC not going to their admitted student day (not Harvard!) though it looks fun. DC is a recruited athlete so has been on campus including for a multi-day in-depth visit. So we decided to forgo admitted student day. There can be numerous reasons the kids do not go such as distance, conflicting obligations, already-decided etc. |
Same! The Monroe reception Saturday night and Sunday events were so well done. Kids were so impressive. We all fell in love with it. Second Sunday and the market going on today was so fun and busy near the shops. |
| Mine did not go as he already visited and did not want to “lose enthusiasm” as he put it. Was worried he might not like it! |
We thought DFAS was amazing(even without Monroe), but I can only imagine that the Monroe receptions would have blown people away even more so. Also, some people who were invited to the "you belong" event the day before said that that program was also impressive. Again, we only did the basic DFAS program on Saturday and we just walked away feeling very impressed and welcomed. Loved the clear bags too! |
