Our child applied for AAP when she was on 3rd Grade. How does FCPS decide those cases? Any idea/ previous experiences?

If you are applying after 3rd grade . They check for score of COGAT ( NNAT becomes optional or of very less importance at this point) ,SOL, report cards of the previous year + the Q1 reports of the current year ,iready fall and of course the GBRS /HOPE.

What a mess, seriously. FCPS failed. I also did not get an updated email. Can someone post the exact wording of the email? So I can use it and send my reply to the AAP email address? thanks

PP, here is the wording:

Please email your school choice noted at the end of this communication to aap@fcps.edu no later than May 6, 2024.

(Choices listed were local, center, no services, part-time services)

Choice #s are going to differ based on whether you have local level IV and center or just center. Our school is a center so we only had 3 choices. 1 was accept level IV placement at our center. 2 was do level III at our school/center. 3 was don't do any advanced services.

But if we had a local level IV and a center I don't know what the numbering is. The email had a blank for a number, so I'd be cautious copying and pasting.

We received the second email. We called the center and asked for an update and got the email moments later. That may be the key to get traction.

Called FCPS AAP office half an hour ago. They resent it again while we were on the phone. Still haven't received the updated email to either Gmail or Hotmail (checked both Inbox or Junk Mail) and fcps.edu is not on blocked sender list. Not sure what's going on!

What about your child's other parent? In past years sometimes emails have gone to just one parent and that parent had a little-used email on file.

I don’t have it either, nor does my husband. I can’t believe FCPS messed up like this.

All the updated emails went out on 4/9/2024 which AAP notification system has a record of and for reasons unknown, a few of us didn't get them. If you're among those who haven't received it yet, simply give the office a call at 571-423-4740; they're quick to answer. Make sure to have your child's FCPS student ID number ready and inform them that you haven't received the updated AAP email. Politely request the individual who answers to resend the updated email, not through the AAP notification system, but from their official FCPS.edu email. You should receive it shortly.

It's advisable to CC the same individual when you respond with your placement decision to ensure your email doesn't get lost in cyberspace!!

Can you share the phone number? I cannot find it anywhere
