What private school did Mary Schmidt Amons attend?

LOL..yeah I assumed they would have her shop at Balduccis or something.

I know seriuosly! I mean come film me... I shop at Safeway. I mean they couldn't even convince her to go to at the very least Whole Foods for the cameras.

I remember when this show was announced there were comments that this would be a far more interesting show if it was the Real Housewives of SouthEast DC and I think they were right

Some balance her. I know her and she is a nice person and her family are nice people. I was always amazed at how "unsnobby" they are for people who have a pedigree to be snobby if they want. Please don't form an opinion of how she manages her family on a snapshot in a show. It's not fair. As for School, she went to O'Connel and did graduate in 84' and then went on to Marymount. I am giving her space to be "out there" because she married young and was having kids while a lot of us were partying. She's having some fun now..her kids are getting older. She looks great-good for her!!

The problem is that if you choose to play your life out on a television reality show, you have to assume that most people (aside from the ones who know you personally) are going to form an opinion about you based on the show. If you don't want your life and your family subjected to scrutiny from complete strangers, then you shouldn't film a reality show.

Yes, Mary is nice in person. But so what? It's about the show, and they will show her in whatever persona they want. And she may be nice, but she's not winning a Nobel anytime in this lifespan.

Also...the dear "Ms. Salahi" was my make up artist at my wedding--still have the pics of it. Too funny. DC is a small town.

I do not know her, but got the same impression that they are pretty "nice". Even her drunken rant on integrating salons struck me (an AA) as one of those things my best (white) girlfriends say with best of intent, even if they don't understand what it would actually mean. They seemed to show genuine respect and affection for Aunt Frances. Scotch and fried chicken? Who wouldn't!?!

Seemed like she was doing a favor for the producers. Couldn't figure out what business she was trying to push. (I too love Leopold's and will continue to go, Lolly or no.)

This is another reason I'm enjoying the show so far (besides seeing Leopold's on tv). The anxiety over race and the different interpretations of comments is sooo DC. I realize now that that's been missing from the other housewife shows, whether it's OC, ATL, NY or NJ. Of course it's reflective of a greater problem affecting the whole country of unfinished (and often unspoken) business about racial inequity and prejudice but it just seems to me that for various reasons it is more likely to come to the surface in DC than in other places.

I just googled Lolly Amons and found this random thing on PipiProfiles or whatever it's called (see below.) It seems as if she went to, gasp, Langley High School.

Enrique Iglesias' concert at the MCI Center was an awesome celebration of Latin culture and music. Mr. Iglesias cast an enchanting spell over his audience from beginning to end. The performer's widespread...

Why would you gasp at Langley? It is one of the best HS in the country....private schools included.

They have 5 kids. They are smart for choosing a great public school district instead of throwing 30k/per year for 5 kids at some DC private which would be an equivalent, if not inferior, education.

Maybe they don't want their kids around d-bags.

Private or public - it would be interesting to know what kind of parents they are.

But let's be real about the kind of people who decide to do these shows. They have egos and a grand sense of self-entitlement and are the very last to know they were picked because of their unstable elements that make great fodder for tv. Everyone, except for them, is in on the joke.

I was that poster and I was 100% kidding/being glib. Many of my family members went to Langley High School... I'm down with it. I was trying to make a joke. Honestly.

Just had to laugh tonight on DC Housewives when Mary told her 14 year old daughter that she was not ready for her to be talking about peers "sexting" and her daughter's response was "well you put me in public school, not me"! Now, don't go crazy everyone is aware that this type of behavior goes on at both privates and publics - I just thought it was a hysterical comment from a child to her mother.

That is quite a comment. Arg..sexting..I really hope my own kids don't one day do any sexting.
