I don't think anyone reading NYT for fashion advice is going to jump on the boat shoes "trend." Rest assured, you won't see those people in your shoe department, like you won't see them in your neighborhood.

I wear them as much as possible in the summer. I’ll wear them until my arches fall. Don’t give a rip whether they’re in, but thanks for letting me know to grab another pair before popularity ruins Sperry.

Anyone have a non-Sperry recommendation?

My feet have widened and even their wides are too narrow, though I don’t even need “wide” in most other shoes.

I like the llbean ones, they’re for men but just convert the size. Idk how wide they are. I take a normal width in women’s shoes and these are loose all around on me, in the best way.
