Forcing yourself to finish a series even though it’s horrible

I couldn't finish this one either. A mishmash of performances--some excellent, some not--but poor writing and execution overall.

I hate-watched all of the recent True Detective season with Jodi Foster. Horrific, but I had to see it through.

I got to season 3 and then just read weekly recaps so I wasn't out of the cultural zeitgeist but had no desire to continue with actually watching. It happens.

There are shows that I watched religiously at one point that I just lost interest in before they ended. Like Revenge- I think I had like 3 episodes left, but I just didn’t care anymore.

On one hand, I think “I should just finish”, but on the other I just think “what’s the point?”

Outlander was only goodish the first two seasons. I found myself ffwding some episodes after that. I know everyone loved Schitt$ Creek but I gave up in Season 5. While Dan Levy is a very likable guy, he doesn’t seem to have much range and the other characters became so grating.

The Walking Dead. First 3 seasons were good, but then it just became too torturous and dragged out. I think I stopped after they moved to Alexandria.

Jane the Virgin. Loved it at first, but realized that I'm not into lengthy soap operas.

I never feel the need to continue. I just read up on what happens and that is enough for me. Too many good things to watch what doesn’t make me happy.

"Swans" did get better in the end, IMO. I almost gave up on it. The costumes and Naomi Watts was worth it for me.

I may be giving up on The Walking Dead. I've been watching it on Netflix but it's gotten tedious. I think I'm in season 8.

I did give up on Outlander -- more because I couldn't stream it anymore. But once I could again, I wasn't interested enough.

Virgin River -- just too much drama all the time.

I’m in this right now with the 3 Body Problem. It was fascinating, but now we have figured out what is going on and it slowed way down and got boring.

I was so frustrated by all of the unanswered questions.

I remember the moment I realized I didn't have to finish a book if it wasn't keeping my interest. So liberating. I abandon shows all the time. Movies too. Zero guilt.

No. Actually, I've quit couple of shows mid-episode, like 'Girls' and 'House of Cards'. Both had grown increasingly annoying for a while and then there was that one scene that was the last drop.

We watched a couple of episodes of Yellowstone and then just stopped. It wasn't the way I wanted to spend my time. A few others we've just lost interest in. We had to force ourselves to finish season 2 of White Lotus only because we wanted to see what happened. I did not enjoy the show at all and in fact found it disturbing.

+1 I will abandon ship in a heartbeat.

sometimes, I will keep watching something because I know so many other people seem to love it even if I am not loving it. So I probably give most of those shows more time than they deserve, but sometimes they DO get better and others, I just quit.
