Get a grower champagne. Avoid the big houses. I can’t give a specific rec since I don’t know your local stores, but any decent wine store should have good growers in the $65-$100 range.

The Kirkland wine buyer is actually excellent at selecting wines, according to an industry friend in Sonoma.
