14:52 here - My daughter will know that all options are available to her and that I will love and support her in whatever she chooses. Hopefully she will do what makes her happy, as I have.

Mom stayed at home until parents divorced and she had to start working full time. I work full time but would prefer to stay home.

My mom did a combo of stay-at-home and teaching jobs where she could be home when we came home from school. I work FT but wish I could do PT.

My mom did both - worked FT after I turned 2 until my sister was born (I was 5), then stayed home until my sister was 5 or 6 (can't remember) and has been worrking FT every since. I am a physician and then have been a stay at home mom for the last 16 months since my children were born. Will be going back to work FT in two weeks.

Mom worked FT (still does); I work FT but lately have been wanting to be a SAHM. I may have to compromise with myself and go PT!

I would like DD to have the option to work or not. Actually what I really want is for things to change in ways that DD (and all of your DDs) have an easier environment in which to find a balance between work and being a mom/wife.

My Mom didn't work until my youngest sister was in first grade (I was in fifth grade at the time). I work full time but I would rather not at least until my baby is older but it's just not possible. Sigh.

My mom was a SAHM until my Dad got cancer and could not work. He died a few years later. My mom transitioned from PT to FT when my Dad died. Luckily it was not too difficult to make this transition since she already was working PT. Her experience inspires me to build my career while I raise little kids. None of us have a crystal ball.....

My mom worked FT and PT while I was young. Funny thing is, I didn't know she was part-time and I don't really recall there being much difference between the two arrangements. I work FT but recently reduced my hours so I could have one day off, so I guess I'm not technically PT. I actually find the opposite of what OP said to be true - of my friends whose moms SAH, they have had a harder time with the decision to remain working. As a daughter of a working mom, doing something other than WOH didn't even occur to me until after I had kids, and even now seems like an extraordinary arrangement rather than something many women choose to do. I guess for the daughter of the SAH moms, the default was to SAH, for me, it was to work.
