Schools like Clemson

While they are both southern schools, they are indeed different. Just because it wasn’t for my DD, doesn’t mean it won’t be for yours.

OP here. U South Carolina was a totally diff vibe .

NP. How is the vide different specifically? We have Clemson and UofSC on my DS’s list but we haven’t visited. Clemson seems rural and somewhat isolated and UofSC seems more urban and integrated into a city. Is this correct?

DP-yes. Aside from location they are both large southern universities. Most students prefer one to the other, but to say they are totally different is wrong.

My sister transferred from UofSC to Clemson for undergrad. I think she’d agree the vibe is very different. I have a grad degree from UofSC and know most of my SC peers probably also felt that way. I think Clemson has much more of a campus/college town vibe.

My sister is really not a city person (not that Columbia is much of a city), and she said she felt less safe on the UofSC campus. I (male) wasn’t aware of the UofSC campus feeling dangerous and I don’t recall hearing anything like that during my grad program from fellow students. I do think that Clemson has more of a college town feel.

Is there a lot to do on/around the UofSC campus? My dd would prefer a city environment so to me this sounds like a plus for UofSC.

U of South Carolina is full of people who didn't get into Clemson, South Carolina is not full of people who got into Clemson and decided to go to SC.

Wrong. Why would you say something so ignorant?

Auburn is not small- they have close to 30,000 students. They do a great job of making a big school feel smaller.

I was going to say this. Our JMU tour guide said they chose JMU after being turned down by UVA and Clemson.

Maybe for engineering. Other than that you are very off base, try not to confuse folks that don't know any better.

Love it when South Carolinians start fighting about colleges. Its like when people from Rhode Island & Connecticut throw down over football.

The UofSC undergrads that I knew when I was in grad school there referred to Clemson as a “cow college” because of their veterinary science programs. There are a lot of kids at UofSC who consider themselves WAY too cool to go to Clemson.
