If you had a week where you where would go to in the US

This thread is great.

OP doesn't give time of year.

Then we have suggestions for: Canada, Europe (from an airport that barely goes to Europe), and not taking the kids.

OP. I always dreamed of a condo/small house somewhere in California (not the big cities) in summer that could be our base and do 1-2 hr trips daily.

The same can be said about New England.

Any ideas of such towns that could be a base…that themselves have nature based activities to offer. Museum trips would also be fine.

OP. Thanks. Done enough beach trips. I am thinking not Florida as we avoid that in summer. Chicago, NYC, Toronto etc big cities - done those.

The free flowing ideas here - awesome!

I'd say Arizona would be too hot for summer.

I would go to South Dakota.

A few nights by Badlands National Park because the kids would love the rock scrambling, animals, hiking.

Then more nights in a cabin near Custer State Park. Great hiking, wildlife. S’mores nightly for the kids. Could do a city day in Rapid City.
