To stay put in one place because there are things you can do with kids age 10-12 within 1-2 hrs daily. Preferably not in a big city.

| What time of year? Hawaii, Miami, Hudson valley, Vancouver, Western Massachusetts, new York City, a dude ranch....all could be fun but the weather matters. |
Since when the hell is Vancouver in the US? |
| I would go somewhere in New England, a house on the water, a stack of books, a beach to walk on, a porch to watch the ocean from. |
| Hawai’i, Grand Tetons, Lake Tahoe, or Sedona. If it’s winter, then a week long ski trip to Telluride or somewhere similar. |
Idk but I do know Toronto is part of Detroit |
|
Miami.
Leave them kids with their grandma |
| What time of year? Do you like to hike? Do you like to swim in ocean and or lake? |

| It’s a city but Chicago. |
| BWI to anywhere in Europe. |
| OP, the time of year and your previous trips matter, but for a summer week, I like Finger Lakes, Adirondacks, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard. You can choose a base and drive short distances for day trips. For early summer, maybe Hilton Head (can drive to Savannah if you would like but not necessary) or Kiawah (can drive to Charleston if you would like but not necessary). I do think both Savannah and Charleston are worthwhile day trips though. For late fall, WDW is perfect if you prefer minimal to no driving. |
Since its founding in 1825. It's the fourth largest city in Washington State. It's near Portland. It's a cute little city but maybe not the best idea in that list. |
