What kind of sandals do the men and teens in your life wear?

DH wears Havanas to the beach. DS likes Croc slides at the beach. Otherwise they both were various lightweight trainers or boat shoes in the summer.

Ummm.... I think it's clear that I disagree with you. Men have feet that get hot and need something to wear. I have no problem with DH or DS wearing sandals... nor do they.

As for what my 17 yr old "wants" to wear -- he couldn't care less until I get something and he tells me he doesn't like it. He has no idea what he "should" wear other than he doesn't generally wear sneakers all the time during summer. DH can make his own choices.

+1. Men and male teens should not wear sandals. Ugh. Teach them better, OP.

Slides or flips only.

Mine wear Reef Flops or boat shoes.

You clearly know zero about fashion. The most fashionable sandals this summer will be fisherman sandals. If you look on the thread about women's sandals, started recently, you'll see the only shoes that people who know anything about fashion at all praised are the fisherman sandals. Here they are: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/kya-fisherman-sandals/?color=001&countryCode=US&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4qu53PuAhQMVBu7jBx3pkwfKEAEYASACEgJKGPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&inventoryCountry=US&utm_kxconfid=vx6ro62gj&type=REGULAR&quantity=1

But if you go to Anthro, or Urban Outfitters, or Madewell or whatever site really, and search "fisherman," you will probably see many versions of these -- because everyone is wearing them.

That said, I wouldn't put men in them, even though they are a masculine sandal and originally a menswear shoe. But that is because I don't want to be looking at the feet of the "men and teens in your life" at all. I'm against men in sandals. But it's a free country.

It's time to cut the apron strings. I cannot imagine picking out what clothes to purchase for my 17 year old.

Well, you do you. If I didn't pick out things for him to wear, he'd be naked! Or actually wearing things from when he was 10. Neither of my kids likes to shop. It's not an affliction. In fact, it's almost a character upgrade that he is not materialistic. I'm sure there are plenty of moms who pick out things for their teenage sons, as well as plenty of wives who help their husbands pick out clothes/shoes. Do you think being judgmental like that is helpful?

Those things!? Where I’m from, we called them Jesus sandals. And sorry it sounds like you’re the one not in fashion. Those are freaking hideous.

Oh, I can imagine it. It's one facet of raising a mama's boy manchild incapable of basic responsibilities. Good luck to his future wifemommy.

Lol. Your opinion of what is "hideous" does not dictate what is "in fashion" as you put it. Your opinion of what is "hideous" does not dictate what dominates on the runways, on the shelves in stores, or on the streets. Anthropologie's site alone turns up 23 options. Free People, 11 options. It'll be the most-worn style of sandal this summer.

Bet you were wearing Tevas or Crocs or something truly "hideous" as you sat ignorantly typing away. Or maybe even something worse -- "fun" multi-colored comfort sandals or something. Like with teal leather flowers on top. I can picture it. While you denounce fisherman sandals as not "in fashion."

Y'all are funnier than you know.
