Infertility Support and Discussion
| Whatever you do, don't go to GIVF. They are more expensive and less effective than SG. |
| We are very frustrated about SG mainly because they don't offer a reason that none of our cycles have worked, and I don't think they have paid much attention to our situation. If this last cycle is a negative then we need to get a second opinion. |
|
In my experience at SG, you have to set up an in-person follow-up appointment with your RE to go over your last cycle and to ask questions about new strategies. Ask a lot of questions about every phase of the process. SG patients acquire varying levels of knowledge about the process, but at a minimum if you ask a lot of question you will at least push the SG RE to do a lot more thinking about your particular case and explain in more detail what he or she thinks.
Second opinions may be useful, but REs tend not to be shy about critiquing each other and finding fault with the efforts of your current or former RE. I find it extremely distasteful how much of the IVF "industry" is a competitive, profit-centered, business-oriented enterprise. |

"if you ask a lot of question you will at least push the SG RE to do a lot more thinking about your particular case"
Totally agree with this. |
| I felt our SG RE didn't really care about our situation regardless of how many questions I asked and our nurse went on vacation during our last cycle. |
So your nurse is supposed to plan her vacation around your cycle? |
| Agree about the nurse going on vacation. Huh? And, the REs at SG have more than one nurse assigned to them, so I would hope someone was covering for your primary nurse. My SG RE has three nurses and my treatment is seamless when my primary nurse is out. Yes, I do prefer dealing with my primary nurse, but the other nurses have been fantastic when she is out and I have had problems. |
