Infertility Support and Discussion
Can I just say that infertility sucks and shady Grove makes it so MUCH WORSE, I hate that place, from my first visit everything they have done has made my DH and I crazy.
Switch to Dominion Fertility. That's what I did after dealing with two other clinics in the area. Everyone at DF treats you with respect, kindness and consideration.
Maybe try switching nurses? I had a great nurse at SG and I think that made all the difference. Just an idea...
Unfortunately, Dominion does not accept my insurance. So I'm thinking of using GIVF instead of Shady Grove. Any thoughts...?
What is your specific issue with SG? I only ask because some offices manage some things better than others, some nurses are better than others, etc. I have had nothing but a great experience there and came there from another clinic. I think a lot of it has to do with the team and office with which you work.
There are so many bad things written about GIVF on this board, I'd ask around before switching. Or maybe try GW -- the doctors there are good (although the billing staff is not the best). Good luck
I switched from GIVF to SG. My nurse at GIVF was incredibly patient and responsive all hours of the day. My SG nurse was awful. Look at the CDC stats before you switch. SG has far better numbers.
I switched from SG to Columbia Fertility. No need to make a stressful experience even worse by hating where you have to go!
I would not use GIVF - so unimpressed. If you can't do Dominion, look at GW or Sacks at Columbia.
I switched from SG to the Muasher Center and was very happy. In addition to better results they were very responsive, personalized, and organized.

I am sorry about your experience at SG.
I went there too for my first IVF and my nurse left me to go on maternity, wanted to NOT assign me to another nurse and just let me float around the other nurses as I needed...hello!?!? This is my first IVF! I said give me a new nurse or I am leaving. They gave me a new nurse. She was mediocre, didn't return my calls half the time, and then they basically treated me how they said they were going to...different nurses would call me back with my bloodwork/med updates. However, when it counted (I failed the mock embryo test and needed a hysteroscopy asap) mediocre nurse pulled through and got me on the schedule. She could have been more helpful in helping me plan how much meds I needed. I ran out and had a major insurance/clinic conflict to mediate. It worked out in the end but caused a lot of stress. However, IVF #1, 2.5 yrs of infertility, and I am now 28 wks pregnant. Thought I would never get here, and I know that its gonna happen for you too. Good luck and baby dust. |
I switched from Sg to to dominion Fertility and it was a like night and day, the staff at Df made a huge difference in my ability to cope with the whole process. I'm 16 weeks pregnant from natural cycle IVF.
The only thing I can recommend you is to stay away from GIVF,they are very bad.
I have to say that I really liked the rockville office of shady grove. Are you in the dc office? I found the rockville office to be very organized and responsive.
I LOVED GIVF! 3 healthy beautiful babies. Couldn't be happier.
