NP. Kid has made up the work. Anyone saying this is a problem clearly hasnt been in a public school classroom recently. |
| They will never hold a kid back/force them to repeat a grade because it’s extremely costly. Think about it, repeating a grade means they spend that extra $15,000 or whatever. Kids miss huge amounts of time and are still pushed ahead. |
|
No. They don't hold anyone back for attendance from K-8.
I know this because my child missed most of 7th and 8th grades and FCPS was thrilled to just pass her along. |

Bad parent. |
| Wtf |
What's the point of holding her back if she's just going to miss most of middle school the second time around? |
|
My DS missed 40 days of school during the first semester of 5th grade, and additional days in the second half of 5th grade. Due to a terrible flare of a chronic illness. He had a 504 from 3rd grade thru 11th, but no year was as bad as that one.
He missed so much, and it was terrible socially. But the school was very accommodating and he kept up pretty well. There was never any consideration of holding him back. He graduated from high school on time and is now doing well at a highly ranked college. OP, I hope things improve for your DC soon. |
There are plenty of kids who have terrible parents. So sad that this is their lot in life. |
If they're passing their tests and did all the work, it would be horrible if they made them repeat. |
Wow. |
| We strive for perfect attendance. 😀 |
I think this says more about grade inflation than your kid... |
Or that this kid should move ahead to 7th grade. I know it isn't easy but if they can ace classes they don't even attend then maybe move up a grade. |
This. They never want to hold a kid back. Absences don't matter. |
