To OP:
Why is it important to you for your DS to be on a MLS Next U13 team?
Not taking a shot at you, just would like to hear what boxes you're checking.

Train with high level teammates, play against high level teams, good coaches, easier to break into MLS Next at U13 than at later ages.

I am sorry to bust your bubble but playing at MLS Next level does not necessarily equate to 'good coaches'.

If you’re committed and driven on getting better, then it only makes sense to want to surround yourself with other like minded people. Get on the best team you can! If you make sacrifices for shorter commutes and more playing time you will end up looking for a better team the following year.

Some truth to this. DS practiced with 3 MLSNext teams. Only two we considered to have good coaching, which also includes effective training and practices, AND kids that were focused, determined and competitive. Out of those two, we went with the coach that seemed to want DS more.

It’s a small world so I’ll just say the younger ages.
