Would you ask for a refund if your massage therapist…

Anonymous
So the service was so horrible that you…let her finish the entire massage? And then you feel she should have given that time and work for free?

This makes no sense. Do you also eat the entire plate of objectionable food and then demand it be free?

She didn’t put lotion/oil on her hands to massage? There’s virtually no chance of that. Makes me think you were smelling something else & very sensitive to it because you were pregnant. FWIW pregnancy nose absolutely lies/makes smells that wouldn’t normally be offensive intolerable. It’s a known thing. Eggs are something it’s specifically known to happen with, for instance.

You could have left. But you stayed, so no, don’t expect a refund.

No, I didn’t. As I stated in the original I ended it early.

Yes, lavender scented vomit.

I’m not sure why so many people think I imagined this. She smelled like puke.

We don't understand why you stayed quiet if you truly thought it was vomit! And for 90 mins!

Op, these posters are hopeless.
Sorry that happened. I'd shower and call them about it after calming down. Maybe they will refund you half or not, but at least she'll know it was not ok.

She already stated she ended it early

There could have been a Caesar salad involved. Like lunch trash. Or she was pregnant herself. Or an issue with the building. Maybe she farted. Use your voice and be specific.

“I think I smell vomit, and it’s overwhelming. Im not sure if it’s the room or not.”

The smell was overwhelming. A 90 minute prenatal massage I cut short because I couldn’t handle the smell anymore. It was beyond distracting and made me unable to relax or enjoy the experience.

It was immediately obvious in her breath and then I realized I could somewhat smell it near her hands too. Being pregnant and knowing the norovirus is going around I was very upset a potentially sick person was giving me a massage. However, she seemed fine the entire massage and oblivious to her smell. If she was suffering from food poisoning or a virus I’d 100% rather her cancel last minute.

I suspect maybe underlying health condition or maybe eating disorder (hence smell on hands). I don’t want to sound like I lack empathy because I recognize the struggle and have been there myself.

That being said, I can’t imagine anyone would be able to enjoy the massage with the lingering strong smell of vomit on the breath. She would belch quietly frequently and the stench would be so strong I’d have to try my hardest not to gag myself.

I paid $280 and ended up leaving more stressed than I arrived. I have a friend who is a masseuse and says they’ll decline clients with too strong of a body odor. This clinic asked all clients shower before a session so there is an expectation we smell pleasant enough. Shouldn’t the therapist we pay to see be up to a similar standard?

Please have your friend update you on the difference between a masseuse and a massage therapist?

Why do people doubt what others smell? Vomit is distinct

She needs to say why as well. Your hands smell. I’m getting sick from your body odor.

How early did you cut it short? Didn’t she ask why?
