| Keep in mind that with social media, the circle of people we’re connected to is potentially huge and we’re just hearing about more of this than our parents did. It’s much less likely that a lot of people in your own neighborhood or immediate close friend circle will be diagnosed with cancer at one time. I was diagnosed in my early 50s and it was a huge deal to everyone I knew and I’m the only one with cancer amongst my close friends. But I hear about a lot of cases - friends of friends of friends and beyond - who are being diagnosed. |

I’m 57. Lost 1 friend to brain cancer. But remember quite a few of us in our 20s losing our Dads at 50+. All smokers/drinkers. Now we are losing our Moms 70s/80s to cancers—bladder, breast/heart disease etc. sadly it’s life |

DP That's based on historical averages. The surprising feature of recent cases is how quickly they advance to serious levels. |
Because people are now getting cancer at younger ages. Cancer is nearly always more aggressive in younger people. |
