Huge rise in cancer in friends

We are better at screening for cancers and finding them at earlier stages.

Many of the reports of cancer in youth recently are indicating that they're serious when discovered.

Hmmm. I wonder what it could be.

Microplastics?

Keep in mind that with social media, the circle of people we’re connected to is potentially huge and we’re just hearing about more of this than our parents did. It’s much less likely that a lot of people in your own neighborhood or immediate close friend circle will be diagnosed with cancer at one time. I was diagnosed in my early 50s and it was a huge deal to everyone I knew and I’m the only one with cancer amongst my close friends. But I hear about a lot of cases - friends of friends of friends and beyond - who are being diagnosed.

A lot of colon cancer in mid-30s to early 40s. 4 cases in the last year.

I know people are going to come on here and talk about Covid and Covid vaccines but some of the illnesses I’ve seen predate Covid or were early into the pandemic.

I tend to think that micro plastics and other environmental contaminants in the air, water and food supply are the problem as most people I know are healthier than the average American in terms of eating habits, weight and exercise.

I’m 57. Lost 1 friend to brain cancer. But remember quite a few of us in our 20s losing our Dads at 50+. All smokers/drinkers. Now we are losing our Moms 70s/80s to cancers—bladder, breast/heart disease etc.
sadly it’s life

Decades ago people didn’t live long enough to get cancer.

It’s almost as if much of the population was introduced to something, some mysterious substance, in the last 3 years, that conspiratorial people said would do exactly what we’re seeing here - cause massive increases in cancer and a surge in deaths. And now it’s happening, just like they said it would.

Weird, huh?

If you weren’t the type of person to believe conspiracy theories you might also be the kind of person to google the time it takes cancer to go from stage 0 to stage 1 and then you would realize that your theory is very very dumb

DP That's based on historical averages. The surprising feature of recent cases is how quickly they advance to serious levels.

Because people are now getting cancer at younger ages. Cancer is nearly always more aggressive in younger people.
