Not sure I’d say huge rise but early 50s and seems like more than I’d expect and I don’t recall my parents knowing that many people with cancer at a similar age although there were some. Of course anecdotes are not data.

I know people are going to come on here and talk about Covid and Covid vaccines but some of the illnesses I’ve seen predate Covid or were early into the pandemic.

I tend to think that micro plastics and other environmental contaminants in the air, water and food supply are the problem as most people I know are healthier than the average American in terms of eating habits, weight and exercise.

My own mother died of cancer at 54. She was one of the first of her friend group to pass and I sensed the shock from them.

This is the age though that cancer often kicks in. It happens.

from https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/age, graph is incidence rate by age at diagnosis for all cancers

I think it's mostly because you're all getting older. The incidence rate for 50-54 is more than twice that from 40-44.

This chart is from 2013-17. There seems to be a greater number of younger people getting it now and having it progress faster.

It's part of getting older.

I think that’s part of it but certain cancers (like colon, oral) are increasing among people in their 20s-30s, no?
