Office Kitchen

So stupid. If you knew who they belonged to, you should have asked him directly. Maybe he didn't hear or register your general query.

And what an ass for not saying you were the one who moved his stuff.

We all recognize you as the most miserable person on this board. I pity your family.

Team OP. I would have put his stuff on the floor.

But yes assembling a salad sounds weird. I picture her tossing with a huge wooden salad fork and spoon and calling it "dressing the salad".

But others need the counter clear. It's just good practice. Maybe to make a protein shake or to rearrange things in the fridge, or to set down while you pull off the cellophane from your freezer meal and then stir it mid-cooking (that's me)

Haven’t you ever seen one of those bagged salads in the grocery store? You mix the greens in a bowl with the dressing and nuts/seeds/croutons which come in separate baggies. Not sure why people are getting hung up on the word “assembling”.

Your mistake was putting it in the sink.

It should disappear if it is not where it belongs. Trash it in another part of building.

Plead ignorance, suggest it was tossed while being cleaned since it was abandoned.

+1

In the summer, especially, I'll keep carrots, cucumbers, red onions, greens and bell peppers, and nuts/pita crips in a container in the fridge and I will assemble and dress one salad each day around 1. That is my lunch. Surely that is permissible if people are allowed to leave the building, get in their car, drive to Five Guys, order, wait, eat, drive back to the office, and get back to their desk.

This would make a great comedy sketch!

Personally, I would have stood up when he was going around asking who had touched his things and I would have informed him, just a publicly that I had moved his things into the sink because he was taking up the small amount of counter that was shared by everyone in the office. I would point out that he was already asked to not leave his things there, he followed this for a couple of days and then again starting hogging up the public shared space. If he didn't want this to keep happening he should bring a towel, dry his dishes and take them back to his desk and not leave them around blocking others from using the shared space. I bet you would get applause from people who agree with you.

It would! I used to have a galley kitchen that was only 1-butt wide.
Actor playing OP needs to sweep everything off the counter accidentally with their butt. Oops.

His whole livelihood over counter space?

Anonymous wrote:Can you put a table near the kitchen to help with counter space? Otherwise in your case I’d assume there is no counter space and stop using it. You don’t need to assemble your salad, bring it ready to eat at your desk. Do you really want someone fired over a pissing match regarding a countertop the size of a door mat? That’s where you’re going with this?

NP here, but yeah, newbie with a bad attitude. Goodbye
